Dear 3MA Friend

BOOKINGS - 1300 66 20 22 - www.3minuteangels.com

The theory of 'prevention being better than a cure' doesn't seem to motivate that behaviour.  It also may not be the smartest commercially.  This month we want to hear from you about this paradox.

We'll also be giving away stuff including Xmas parties, free massage bookings for charities throughout 2010 and an Apple i-phone.

Prevention-based and Cure-based Philosophies

Prevention-based and Cure-based Philosophies

After doing as many jobs as we've done - (11451 and counting) - we have seen the best (and the worst) run businesses in the country.  We are also in conversations with people like you all the time.  So, we were intrigued when speaking with Dr Shenouda from Worksafe Medics and he explained the concepts and economics of prevention-based and cure-based approaches to corporate medical services.

In a nutshell, there is a really big argument for a prevention-based philosophy when it comes to things like flu shots and pre-employment medicals.  However, we doubt this philosophy applies equally to 'softer' products like staff massages, which admittedly is not a purchase decision that is going to keep many managers up late at night.

Furthermore, we've seen companies benefit from having regular ongoing massage as a way to prevent fatigue and we've seen companies benefit from calling upon massage on an as-needs basis.  Both philosophies seem to create low staff turnover and have have led to great busines outcomes for the client.

What do you think?  Do you think a pinch of prevention is worth an ounce of cure when it comes to massage?  or do you think massage (like most other business services) is better on an as-needs basis?

Tell us how you (do / would) use the 'Angels' at your work? and what is motivating you - prevention or cure?  The best response sent to myexperience@3minuteangels.com will win for their company free Angels at their Christmas party.  The winner will also receive for themselves a brand new personally-engraved Apple i-phone.

Got A Charity Needing Support In 2010

As with most communities we want to do more than just operate the best that we can.  We also want to help others do the best they can.  So with this in mind, we came up with a promotion just for you.  If you book and pay for your Xmas party with 3 Minute Angels in attendance before the 31st of October 2009, we will give your nominated charity the same amount of Angel-hours free.

Some conditions apply such as your nominated charity must be a legitimate charity that is GDR-accredited.  It must be a charity you are personally involved with to the extent that you can provide us the correct details required for issuing the gift certificates.  The charity must use the free hours by the end of 2010 and can use them as an auction item, to support fund rasining teams or to directly collect funds at an event.

Finally, the charity must use the Gift Certificates in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane CBD's as free travel time is not included in this offer (Gift Certificates assume no travel time).

We are happy to introduce you all to our aptly-named Yoga partner in Sydney, Angel Yoga - www.angelyoga.com.au

We think Angel is wonderful and so have included some information for you to decide the same :-)

"When working as an exec in the hectic advertising industry for many years I sat in a lot of "bored-rooms".   Today I still spend my time in the boardroom, but this time leading lunchtime and evening yoga classes.  My goal is to provide a forum for office workers to re-energise away from their desks by bringing yoga into the workplace.

Each yoga class lasts just 1-hour and over the course of that hour, participants will learn a series of dynamic postures, breathing and relaxation techniques that are practised in a fun, safe and down-to-earth atmosphere. The classes are ideal for stretching and toning the body (whilst calming the mind) and are suitable for all levels - from complete beginners to those with years of yoga experience.  If you are in Sydney I hope you will join me one day."

Angels Every Week For Our Lucky Winner

Recently we asked if you thought optimism had returned to work.  You told us that it has.  We loved all the entries, but in the end there could be only one winner.  So congratulations to John Nair from Thomson Reuters - we hope you will enjoy the 3-hrs of massage every week for year that you have won for your office.

Here is a bit of John's entry:

"This has seen our people translate their appreciation of their work environment into direct financial gain.  A holistic approach to healthy body and mind has helped to keep our people focused on our core role of supporting our customers. It is also a token of appreciation to our staff that make that support to our customers a reality".
